The massively popular action game Dark Souls III released an announcement trailer of its latest downloadable content, The Ringed City, coming this spring. True to its character, the trailer promises to bring more gratifying action gameplay and epic story experience that will make players answer the call of battle once more.
Developed by Japanese studio From Software and published by Bandai Namco, the latest -- and final -- chapter in the saga will hit online shelves on March 28. The DLC will be available for download for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam).
"At the close of the Age of Fire," an elder woman narrator opens the trailer just as a literal ring of fire burns on the screen, "The Ringed City is said to be at world's end, past this heap of rubbish so far as one can go." The weary ominous voice continues as a world, dark and foreboding, reveals itself: decaying ruins, grotesque figures, and trails of death and destruction. A choral music adds more dread to the atmosphere.
This means good news -- good, glorious, gory news -- for hardcore fans.
The video also shows hints of new spells and weapons that the Ashen Ones can use. And, of course, new awesome and fearsome baddies, like the winged monster wrapped in flames at the trailer's end.
These were just glimpses; no concrete details have been revealed just yet. But according to the press release on Bandai's official game site:
At the close of the Age of Fire, as the world ends and all lands converge upon themselves, a lone adventurer descends into the madness of the earth and uncovers the secrets of the past. As players make their way to the fabled Ringed City they will encounter ancient beasts, a new cast of characters teetering on the edge of insanity, new armor, weapons, magic, and at the bottom of it all, a long lost city filled with new horrors for players to overcome.
A glimpse like this is enough to make fans wait with nervous excitement.
Dark Souls III is an action roleplaying game released in April 2016 to critical acclaim. "The Ringed City" DLC will try to pile on the success of Dark Soul III's previous installment, "Ashes of Ariandel," released on Oct. 24, 2016. A season pass for Dark Souls III, which includes access to "Ashes of Ariandel" and "The Ringed City," will be available for bundle purchase.
