'Battlefield 1' DLC Details About To Be Revealed, Teaser Launched Via Tweet [Video]

Battlefield 1's official Twitter account released a teaser trailer that has paved the way for the much anticipated announcement of the game's expansion next week called They Shall Not Pass.

They Shall Not Pass Trailer

The 15-second clip briefly showed a soldier standing while the world burns to the ground as the French flag furiously waves in the background. The teaser is punctuating how the downloadable content mainly involves the introduction of the French Army into the Battlefield universe.

The title largely indicates the narrative of the expansion, which transpires during the Battle of Verdun in France. EA DICE, the game's developer, has previously stated that the DLC wanted to capture how around a million artillery shells were spent in the opening stage of this carnage alone while an insane 40 million shells were fired in entire the duration of the battle. This should explain why the teaser has been engulfed in flames.

Obliterated World As Battlefield

According to Gamerant, fire will be a prominent fixture in several maps such as the one that will focus on the Samogneux village. It would be interesting to see how DICE was able to implement the first-person gameplay as the world around is being systematically obliterated.

The number of maps itself has not been revealed and the information will probably be included in next week's big reveal. This early, some details are already trickling in such as how the expansion will offer more weapons and dog tags.

Battlefield 1 watchers should already know by now that Electronic Arts has not confirmed any specific release schedule yet. However, those who hold a Battlefield 1 Premium Pass will be able to get the DLC two weeks earlier than the public.

Other DLC Details

Fans should watch the next few days closely because the announcement is also expected to demonstrate gameplay footage, which could likely rival other game trailers released this year. It should provide insights into the new maps, weapons, and dog tags as well as new gameplay elements.

This last is particularly exciting especially after producer Ali Hassoon has hinted that the update will be introducing key changes such as the medal awards and character progressions. The Back to Basics game mode is also reportedly going to be made permanent.

Battlefield 1 can be played on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The They Shall Not Pass DLC pack is expected to be unleashed on these platforms at the same time come February. The latest DLC was released in December.
