We learned the names of more than 40 playable wrestlers for the upcoming WWE 2K15 last week, but there were some notable absences. In a new Q&A between fans and WWE 2K15 developer Visual Concepts we now know that last week's announcement wasn't the final roster. That's right: more wrestlers are on the way.
The Q&A comes thanks to IGN, who asked fans on Twitter for questions to ask Visual Concepts. Perhaps the most revealing was news that the entire game roster had yet to be announced. Twitter user @MichaelBuchko asked: "Various editions of RAW and Smackdown featured guests... will any of them be featured, like SHAQ?"
Though WWE 2K15 executive producer Mark Little didn't share specifics, he did say more announcements about the roster were "coming soon that we believe our community is going to be really excited about." He goes on to say that the inclusion of Sting in the roster serves as a type of guest appearance, calling him "the biggest name who has never stepped foot in a WWE ring," and continuing with "The reaction to the Sting announcement has been bigger than any announcement in the history of this franchise."
Alongside news that more playable wrestlers will be announced soon, a few other tidbits of information were dropped for fans. While many of the developer's answers came in the form of "we will have more details to share soon," Little did say that each superstar will have multiple costume variations. He used cover-star John Cena as an example.
"There are four versions of attire for John Cena alone to be 100 percent authentic to his appearances during his rivalry with CM Punk, as featured in the 2K Showcase," Little says.
He also said bringing the game to the next-generation of consoles was a challenge, but the results are more than worth it.
"With the new hardware, we have the opportunity to set a new level of quality in visuals, presentation and gameplay, all of which are a huge motivator for our teams," Little says. "This year, we spent over 40 days in our state-of-the-art 2K Mocap studio and captured more than five times the number of animations than any previous year. You can see the results of all this effort when you play the game."
WWE 2K15 is slated for release on Oct. 28 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles.
