WWE 2K15 will bring to life some of the past decade's most memorable wrestling feuds in its new 2K Showcase mode. The mode will put players right in the middle of the historic rivalries between Triple H and Shawn Michaels from 2002 to 2004, as well as the more recent rivalry between cover star John Cena and CM Punk from 2011 to 2013.
2K Showcase will consist of 33 matches across the two rivalries in a documentary-style mode, similar to what was seen in previous WWE games. Each rivalry will include video footage along with in-game cinematics and scripted commentary that all help to tell the story of the historically accurate matches between some of WWE's biggest rivals. Over the course of the matches, players can complete historical bonus objectives to unlock new WWE superstars, Championship titles and alternate costumes that can be used in other WWE 2K15 game modes. With the additional superstars and costumes, fans can recreate current rivalries, relive their favorite matches or create dream match-ups between any superstars of their choosing.
"The moment Triple H ended his longtime friendship with 'The Heartbreak Kid' by slamming him with a Pedigree was a defining moment in WWE history," said Chris Snyder, Vice President of Marketing at 2K in a press release. "No fan can deny the fierce competition marking the notorious battles waged between Cena and Punk. These two rivalries are firmly etched in WWE history, and 2K Showcase enables fans to take part in those memorable experiences."
CM Punk is featured in 2K Showcase, but he left the WWE in January, at one time bringing into question whether or not he would be featured in the game. It looks like he will indeed be included. Additional rivalries for 2K Showcase will be released as DLC and available for download once the game is released at an additional cost, though exactly how much they will individually cost is currently up in the air. In addition to 2K Showcase mode WWE 2K15 also features a career mode where players can make their own wrestler from scratch and take him to the top of the WWE to become a superstar.
Players who pre-order the game at any participating retailer will receive two playable Sting characters for free on launch day, and a limited edition "Hulkmania" version of the game including signed Hulk Hogan memorabilia is also available. WWE 2K15 hits store shelves on Oct. 28 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles.
