Fans of the hit 90s sci-fi series, “X-Files,” know that if there is one person you should absolutely never ever trust, it's the Cigarette Smoking Man.
The character, played by William B. Davis, also known as Cancer Man, always seems three steps ahead of FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully whenever they came within a hair of discovering the truth about the many conspiracies and cover-ups they were faced with.
As the new six-episode special "X-Files Mini Series" comes closer, fans have been treated to yet another teaser to promote the revival of the show. A poster featuring the ominous silhouette of Cigarette Smoking Man which any true X-Phile (one who truly, madly, deeply loves the X-Files) would gladly put up beside their iconic “I Want To Believe” poster.
“Trust No One,” in big, bold letters are superimposed over Cigarette Smoking Man's figure. As faithful followers of the show would remember, this character was deeply involved in the government project to hide evidence of alien activity, to silence anyone who would try to expose them, and even played a role in the abduction of Mulder's younger sister when they were young — an event that continued to motivate Mulder's actions and decisions throughout his whole career as FBI Agent in charge of the X-Files.
In addition to stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning to don their FBI badges for the show, Cigarette Smoking Man, will also obviously be back, as well as Assistant Director Skinner played by Mitch Pileggi.
More fan-favorites who will be returning are the Lone Gunmen, the trio of hackers and alien experts whom Mulder often went to for help and advice regarding case details. Although they had a spin-off show of their own, it was cancelled in its first season.
