The new X-files season won't premiere until next year but already, fans who want to believe are all hyped up thanks to the promo photos and trailers as well as the sneak peek at the first episode during New York Comic Con that have been released by Fox.
This latest trailer veers away from the traditional clip and teases us for the new 10-episode series with striking, bold graphics and animation that asks the question: Are we truly alone?
David Duchovny, a.k.a. Agent Fox Mulder, FBI Agent and Conspiracy Theorist, leads the voice-overs in the animated trailer. Pointing out what he has been saying throughout the sci-fi 90's show the whole time, “Are we being lied to.”
Sound bites from trailers that have already been released tell the viewers that the X-files have been reopened which means Mulder and his ever-skeptical partner, Agent Dana Scully, are back on the case.
However, Scully, always the more cautious one, voices her concern for Mulder, telling him he is treading on dangerous ground. Some graphics of possible monsters and alien phenomenon we might encounter during the show are fleetingly featured in the animation's poster-style 5 colors, and we are treated to that chilling music by Mark Snow that opened each and every episode.
In addition to Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, as Scully, returning to the show, fans were delighted to find out that other X-files alum are also back to seek out the truth. Mitch Pileggi as Assistant FBI Director Skinner will be back as well as William B. Davis as fan-favorite villain, “The Cigarette Smoking Man.”
Although not quite as fan-favorite but still undeniably an important part of X-files history and lore, Robert Patrick as Agent John Doggett, and Annabeth Gish as Agent Monica Reyes who took over the X-files in latter seasons, will also return.
X-files premieres on Fox on Jan. 24, 2016.
