The Girls star Allison Williams and CollegeHumor co-founder Ricky Van Veen had a ranch wedding in Saratoga, Wyoming on a lovely Saturday afternoon.
Williams looked stunning as she walked down the aisle in a handmade couture gown made by Oscar de la Renta. She is 27 while Van Veen is 34.
Notable guests in the wedding include Girls stars Zosia Mamet, Jemima Kirke, and Lena Dunham, as well as Seth Meyers, John Mayer, Katy Perry, Bruce Springsteen, Andy Cohen, Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson.
The newlyweds met through mutual friends and had been dating since then which lasted for over three years. Their engagement was made in February 2014.
Williams was reportedly shocked when Van Veen proposed to her.
"I was completely surprised," said Williams. "A total surprise, the best kind of surprise."
Williams also talked about her huge engagement ring.
"I'm obsessed with it. I stare at it a lot."
Williams admitted that they needed to postpone the wedding plans before which she reasoned out with what she described as a "very fully year."
"You sort of think, 'What could possibly come along that would make me not think about this?'" said Williams. "And then I get Peter Pan [Live!] and I think, 'Okay, I will think only about Neverland and then we'll go back to planning our wedding.'"
There were also reports that another reason for the postponement was when her father, former anchor Brian Williams of NBC Nightly News, was suspended in February, the reason for such were the false statements he made while he was covering the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.
In the meantime, Brian Williams is preparing for his debut as the breaking news anchor for MSNBC scheduled on Sept. 22. He will be covering the visit of Pope Francis to the U.S.
While other women who just got married may sometimes find it a bit difficult to plan ahead after their wedding, Allison is somewhat different in the sense that she already has a goal in mind.
"My goal is to create a career I can walk away from and become a mom. I'd love to be a mom - and not have to bring my kids into my trailer...Or a balance [of both]. But you've [got to] call it on the fly to a certain extent." she said in an interview with Glamour magazine last year.
