A Houston couple tied the knot inside a hospital labor room on Friday, Aug 21, before the bride was about to go into a Cesarean section delivery.
Stephanie Tallent, together with his fiance Jason Nece went to the Texas Children's Pavilion for Women for an ultrasound test. After the said examination, the doctor discovered that the eight-month old pregnant woman was already in labor and that she would need to undergo a Cesarean section delivery on the same day.
Both Tallent and Nece put high importance to marriage prior to the delivery of their baby; hence, the staff of the hospital took action. Fortunately, the couple had just received their marriage license the day before and if that is not unbelievable enough, Tallent also remembered that she had a white sundress in the car that was due for the cleaners.
The staff further came up with ways to jazz up the bride's outfit. One hospital staff lent her string of pearls and for the bride's "something blue," one suggested that Tallent may use her blue hospital tag, but the medical team later decided to use a blue ribbon for the bouquet, which was a bunch of roses sitting on the desk of Tallent's obstetrician and gynecologist named Dr. Karla Wagner from the Baylor Obstetrics and Gynecology at the hospital. Tallent even walked down the aisle as one nurse played a wedding march from a mobile phone. The said nurse also agreed to be the godmother of the couple's then soon-to-be-daughter.
The chaplain of the hospital then came to the examination room and conducted the ceremony. Tallent sat on a table next to Nece, and they were surrounded with candles, flowers and a bunch of happy doctors, nurses and hospital staff as their audience watching from the door of the room.
"I'm so excited I have so much excitement going through my head," said Tallent on a video clip released by the hospital during that day. She did not think that she would wake up one morning and give birth to their baby and get married with her fiance all on the same day.
After the ceremony, Nece faced his new wife and said, "Let's have a baby!" Tallent was then brought to the preoperative unit via a special wheelchair that had a "Just Married" sign hanging on the back.
After a couple of hours, Tallent gave birth to their daughter, who they named Sophia. Sophia was healthy and weighed six pounds and three ounces.
The couple could not be any happier now that Sophia was born and they are able to see her, said Tallent. For her, it still seems like a dream as so many things have happened in such a swift pace. "It was so exciting and I am was so joyful," she closed.
