The Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone is the first to have a built-in Heart Rate Sensor in its S Health app that allows mobile owners to measure their heart rate straight from the handset, and said sensor was lately maximized by the mobile manufacturer by updating the app that now also allows mobile users to check their stress levels.
The earlier version of the S Health app of Galaxy S5 has the capability to track sleep, heart rate, calorie intake and steps of mobile users. Research says the stress level measurement functionality is considered a welcome addition to the flagship device.
Samsung, however, still warns users that the handset’s stress level measurement isn’t meant for medical or clinical use as it may still bring about inaccurate results inevitably, which simply means it’s still best to see a doctor for clinical diagnosis.
To check stress levels, the mobile user should put his finger on the heart rate sensor, which would tell if the level is low or high. Same thing goes with its heart rate sensor that doesn’t continuously measure pulse of the mobile user, unless the latter places his finger on said sensor for around five seconds before and after any physical activity.
Samsung’s updated S Health app automatically creates a user chart to show the levels of their stress in an hour, a day or month. Again, it could be a simple, initial guide for stress monitoring to alert the user if it’s time to see a real doctor for further diagnosis.
Further researches also show that the company has yet to officially announce or provide more details about the S Health update feature on its Galaxy S5. There’s no official word as well if the stress level functionality would be included as well in the wearable devices of Samsung, but analysts think it’s unlikely that the company won’t bring the updated feature to its fitness-centered wearables.
Samsung Galaxy S5 was introduced sometime in April 2014 to global markets, including North America, Europe, Latin America, India and Middle East. To boost sales of the flagship smartphone, Samsung also included other promotional offerings such as free apps for news or fitness, free account on cloud computing and free subscriptions to various mobile-based services. A few of the notable features of the S5 device are its fingerprint scanner, dust and water resistance and a 16MP camera.
