Gold Samsung Galaxy S5 available in the U.S. May 30

Samsung has taken to its blog to announce that all major U.S. carriers will begin selling a new gold color Galaxy S5 beginning on May 30.

When Samsung announced the Galaxy S5 at Mobile World Congress in February, the company showed the smartphone off in several color options. When the handset went on sale in the U.S., consumers only had the option of choosing a black or white Galaxy S5. That will be a thing of the past very soon, as Samsung has announced that a new gold color option will be hitting the U.S. and will be available from AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular.

Samsung posted the news on its blog with the title of 'Add swagger to your style with Samsung's gold Galaxy S5' and provides this description to entice you:

"Technology and fashion collide with Samsung's new Gold Galaxy S 5 -- proving that fashion and function can coexist. With graduations coming up, the Gold Galaxy S 5 makes a perfect gift for the new graduate. And with Father's Day coming up on June 15th, the Gold Galaxy S 5 makes a great gift for the fashionable dad who wants to add a little swagger to his wardrobe."

The gold Samsung Galaxy S5 has the same specifications as the black or white model, which means you'll get a 5.1-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 432 pixels per inch (ppi). It's powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset and 2 GB of RAM.

The Galaxy S5 runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat and an updated version of Samsung's TouchWiz UI. The smartphone boasts a high-end 16-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. It includes 16 GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot with support for up to 128-GB microSD cards. Samsung has also built in a fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor for security and health tracking.

The gold Samsung Galaxy S5 will be available online and in stores from AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular on May 30.
