Horde or Alliance? It's almost always the first question that comes up when talking to fellow players of Blizzard's wildly popular MMORPG World of Warcraft.
It only makes sense, then, for the upcoming Warcraft movie from Legendary pictures to play up the opposing factions that serve as the primary conflict of the long-running video game series. Two new posters released by Legendary at San Diego Comic-Con should help fans decide which faction to root for.
One poster depicts the Alliance, with one of the film's main characters in the foreground as an army of Alliance soldiers march behind him. The other highlights the impressive CGI work that has gone into crafting the film's orc characters, who are also seen preparing for battle.
The characters look they like have been ripped straight out of Blizzard's game universe, which should be reassuring for longtime fans of the franchise. From the way the armor of the Alliance soldiers look to the orcs themselves, director Duncan Jones has definitely made sure to represent the games as faithfully as possible when it comes to the film's visuals. Check out the posters below.
Jones went on record earlier this week to say that the film is basically finished, and that according to those who privy to early screenings, it's good. The director took to Twitter earlier this year to discuss his stance on CGI use in film, saying that it can be done well and it can be done poorly — just like any other tool in film making.
Warcraft is coming to theaters June 10, 2016.
