Blizzard Entertainment has announced on its World of Warcraft blog that a name reclamation process will be coming when the upcoming "Warlords of Draenor" 6.2 patch goes live on June 24.
As players come and go on the legendary World of Warcraft franchise during its 10 years gameplay, many accounts have been inactive for years, and gamers are finding it difficult to name their new characters.
To address the issue, Blizzard says any playable character that has not been active in any World of Warcraft server since Dec. 7, 2010 will have their names available for recycling by players forming a new character or those paying for the Character Name Change service.
Blizzard also advises that, for players to preserve one's chosen name, they simply need to log in to World of Warcraft and play the game using each character, the main character or any alternative character before patch 6.2 becomes effective.
Of course, it is possible that the new characters will not be using the reclaimed inactive names. It is highly suggested, however, to play the character whose name is the one preferred before June 24 for long-term gaming and to continue the journey to Draenor.
Blizzard expects to reclaim more inactive names during the releases of future expansions of World of Warcraft. Prior to the name reclamation, the company will post information regarding time frames to give gamers the opportunity to preserve their character names.
It is only a couple of days before World of Warcraft gamers experience the much anticipated massive patch 6.2 for "Fury of Hellfire." Players will be able to explore new areas such as the Tanaan Jungle zone to fight Gul'dan and other cruel creatures of the Iron Horde as well as build their own Garrison Shipyard.
Hellfire Citadel raid with 13 bosses and Timewalking, which will allow players to go back to previous expansions, will now be available in Normal and Heroic modes. Blizzard has also revealed that flying mounts in Draenor can be unlocked for dedicated players after a handful of milestones and achievements.
