Call him three-time NBA champion, 11-time All-Star and now ... Harvard graduate.
Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade excused himself from ABC analyst duties in the NBA Finals during Games 4 and 5 to complete Harvard's four-day executive program called "The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports" over this past weekend.
If you're wondering what the course covers, this is how Harvard describes the program on its website:
"The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports focuses on the unique challenges of developing, distributing, and marketing a successful entertainment offering. From the National Football League and Lady Gaga, to Hulu and the Metropolitan Opera, you'll examine the crucial elements of effective talent management and entertainment business strategies. You'll emerge with a deeper understanding of the steps needed to create sustainable competitive advantage."
Wade definitely seemed to get a better understanding of the sports business, taking to his Instagram account and telling his fans: "Big Business minus the Business suit .. 2015 Harvard Business School Grad. #higherlearning #AllergictoNo."
Pretty cool. He wasn't the only athlete who completed the 2015 four-day program, either. New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall also passed the course. Now that Wade's higher learning session is complete, he's scheduled to resume analyst duties for ABC on Tuesday night for Game 6 of the Finals at Cleveland Cavaliers' home Quicken Loans Arena.
Perhaps Wade timed the course around the fact that he can opt out as a free agent with the Heat this summer and wanted to increase his acumen for signing a new deal.
