Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-orders begin with BOGO deal featuring the S5, HTC One M8, or Samsung ATIV SE

Verizon has finally announced its Samsung Galaxy S5 launch plans. The carrier is now taking pre-orders for the smartphone that will ship on April 11.

Soon after the Samsung Galaxy S5 was officially unveiled, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile announced pricing, pre-orders, and release date. Verizon was noticeably quiet and the only information the carrier provided was a teaser page saying it would offer pre-orders "soon."

With the Samsung Galaxy S5 launch now just a few days away, Verizon has announced its Samsung Galaxy S5 will retail for $199.99 when signing a new two-year contract and offers a $50 mail-in rebate. Verizon is offering qualified Verizon Edge customers the smartphone for $25.22 per month for 24 months, or $599.99 off contract.

Verizon is sweetening the deal even further with a buy one Samsung Galaxy S5 and get a select device free. Customers can choose a Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung ATIV SE, or HTC One M8 (a new two-year activation is required per device).

The Samsung Galaxy S5 improves upon its predecessor as it features a larger 5.1-inch 1080p full HD display and includes a fingerprint scanner housed in the Home button. The Galaxy S5 runs Android 4.4 KitKat and an all-new version of Samsung's TouchWiz UI. The handset ships with 16GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that supports up to 128GB microSD cards.

Samsung has packed in a 16-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, flash, and zero shutter lag, in addition to a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera for video chat and selfies. The Galaxy S5 ships with a large 2,800 mAh battery that will provide up to 27 hours of continuous use and a new ultra power saving mode that will allow a Galaxy S5 with 10 percent of its charge remaining last up to 24 hours.
