Renders for LG's forthcoming flagship in various colors leaked recently, and there's now a list of specs to go along with it.
They come from Android Headlines, which cites a reliable source. First up is the notch. Yes, there will be a notch on LG's new phone, indeed, the first for any LG flagship. Both the G6 and V30, each the latest model in their respective lines, had edge-to-edge displays with very minimal top and bottom bezels.
LG G7 ThinQ: Notch
It was reported fairly recently that LG took to Reddit to ask customers what they thought of the notch. It seems LG listened. While the G7 ThinQ will have a notch, this can be hidden away via software, as the phone will offer the ability to make the display edge-to-edge or just tuck away the notch entirely, blending in with the status bar. LG will even market the notch as "optional," the report claims.
LG G7 ThinQ: Artificial Intelligence
The G7 ThinQ will get much better dual cameras: two 16-megapixel sensors, a standard one and a wide-angle one. Users will be able to easily switch between two lenses and the software will even recommend which is the better lens for certain situations. The main camera will also support 10-bit HDR for capturing colors more accurately, similar to the V30.
As was the case with the V30S ThinQ, the G7 ThinQ will make use of artificial intelligence to improve the cameras. AI Cam will offer "enhanced filter options" that'll provide different levels of optimization based on color, contrast, and saturation. The phone will also support Google Lens, Google's AI-powered camera search tool.
LG G7 ThinQ: Superpixels
The G7 ThinQ will debut a technology called "superpixels" that allows the G7 to capture bright and clear images even in low light. Users will see this as a "Bright Mode" option in the camera, which is powered by AI. Superpixel technology will be able to detect dark environments and compensate by combining pixels together to form a superpixel. As a result, the G7 ThinQ will be a far more capable low light camera than the G6, V30, and V30+.
LG G7 ThinQ: Audio Capabilities
LG has apparently outfitted the G7 ThinQ with a "Boombox Speaker." The phone will be able to bounce audio signals internally before it comes out of the speakers, which results in a more "booming" sound.
The G7 is also capable for far-field recognition technology, which is used by major smart home speakers such as the Amazon Echo and Google Home. With this, the phone will be able to hear the user's voice commands from a distance.
From the looks of it, the G7 ThinQ will be nothing short of a top-tier flagship, with some exciting and unique features thrown in, especially superpixels. Specific specs, such as the RAM, processor, and storage, remain uncertain, but expect this phone to have the usual bells and whistles.
