LG G7 ThinQ Renders Leak, ‘Confirming’ Edge-To-Edge Display And Notch

Renders of what's presumed as LG's next flagship have leaked in the past, the most recent being earlier this April via notorious industry tipster OnLeaks.

Now, new ones have surfaced thanks to Android Headlines, confirming much of the previous speculation.

The publication alleges that its renders are actually the official ones, citing a reliable source. LG's forthcoming phone is called the G7 ThinQ, following the company's sub-brand for smart devices.

LG G7 ThinQ Will Have A Notch

The G7 ThinQ will sport a notch design similar to the iPhone X and a number of other Android handsets, though it's worth mentioning that its notch is accompanied still by a slight top bezel, unlike other notch-design phones. It shares a similarity with the bezel design of the Samsung Galaxy S9, only with a notch.

LG G7 ThinQ Colors

The phone will come in five colors, according to the report: Aurora Black, Platinum Grey, Moroccan Blue, Moroccan Blue (Matte), and Raspberry Rose. The default color option is Aurora Black, with the other colorways to be launched as alternative. There's no confirmation as to whether LG plans to launch all colors in the United States or make some of them exclusive to select markets.

Despite the bezels and notch, the screen still appears to be edge-to-edge. The notch holds the front-facing speaker and selfie camera, though expect people to complain about its inclusion especially given that the top bezel looks as if it could still accommodate those components anyway.

On the back, the phone sports a dual camera setup, but unlike the G6 and V30, the cameras are aligned vertically. The fingerprint sensor is still there where it's always been, though in a much lower position given the orientation of the dual cameras. It should also be noted that LG appears to have removed the G-branding on the back of the device, which instead merely shows the LG logo. This signals a shift from past flagships that have highlighted the G-branding.

LG G7 ThinQ Assistant

The G7 ThinQ is rumored to have a physical button — a la Bixby button — that activates LG's intelligent assistant software, which was introduced with the V30S ThinQ.

More important details such as specs remain thin, but since LG's G-series phones belong in the premium flagship category, expect this phone to come with top-tier specs. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip is almost a shoo-in, and perhaps 6 GB of RAM, similar to the V30S. Make sure to check back with Tech Times as we learn more.
