Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War Gameplay Walkthrough Gives A Glimpse Of The Upcoming RPG

Gaming buffs all around the world are excited about the launch of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, an action-packed RPG by Monolith and Warner Bros. Games. The developers released a gameplay walkthrough video which has driven fans into a frenzy.

Shadow of War is the sequel to the runaway hit Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, released by the same developers in 2014. This further leads to high expectations from the game.

What Does The Walkthrough Video Reveal

The 16-minute walkthrough video was posted on the WB Games' YouTube channel and gives a sneak peek into what to expect from the game. It familiarizes the player with the controls, mechanics, and nuances of the game. It also delves into the gaming surroundings and provides the gamer with an insight into the huge open world environment.

A quick montage of the gameplay is shown at the beginning of the video and then the actual walkthrough begins. The walkthrough is not from the beginning of the game though. It begins well into the middle of the game.

A narration takes the viewer through the setup of the game and explains how to battle, by showing an actual fight. The video also tutors users on how to select their own battles in the game. The map of Osgiliath, the capital city of Gondor (where the game is set) is shown, displaying the various forts and castles outside Mordor which the player can take over. The video shows Sergost being taken over.

The Revelations

The game has some new attributes as well. For example, the player can see the units which they bring to the forefront. Each unit has a specific purpose and skills, much like some real-time strategy games. These units can be taken into battle to help the player and achieve the various tasks given.

The nemesis system of the previous game is still present, albeit being an upgraded version of the same. The player will have to maneuver and evade the various attributes and skill sets which the enemies will have.

The nemesis system has another new aspect to it. The followers that a player brings to battle can be added to the nemesis system; therefore, enabling the non-playable characters to develop their own storyline too. These storylines will flow parallel to the player's own character.

Viewers also get a glimpse into the mount system, as they see a mount trudging through a barren intense landscape. The player later teleports onto a drake and then joins battle again.

The final battle to conquer the fort is against Ur-Hakon the Dragon. The narrator explains that each overlord of the forts is customized according to the player. Therefore, no two overlords will match in characteristics. After a fort is taken over, the player can assign any of his followers as the Warchief of the fortress. This will, in turn, create a new emerging gameplay and story options.

Release Date And Console Support

According to the company press release, Shadow of War is set to release on Aug. 22, 2017, and players will be able to run the game on Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and PCs.

One can expect intense battles and a gripping storyline from the newest installment in the Middle-Earth series of games.
