'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' Update: Majin Vegeta, Open Beta And Multiplayer Boss Battles Confirmed

More official news about Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 are out, and the latest bits of info are sure to excite fans everywhere. Open beta, co-op boss battles and a new character, anyone?

Straight off the bat, an open beta will get off the ground, and needless to say, players will get to take the anticipated game out for a spin before it hits the storefronts.

Developer Dimps and publisher Bandai Namco have yet to reveal the details, though, particularly when it'll start exactly. However, it is known that it'll feature Conton City, the new hub area that's seven times larger than the previous one. For those who don't know, it's where players can train and get items and quests.

Other than the undated beta, Majin Vegeta is going to be a playable character. Thanks to the evil alien wizard Babidi, Vegeta took on this form, and as a result of this transformation, he not only became faster but stronger as well.

Last but not least, it has been confirmed that there will be team-based battles in store. Called the Expert Mission multiplayer mode, it lets six players join forces to go toe-to-toe with huge bosses. To clear things up, the gigantic enemy will be an NPC, unlike the case in games such as Evolve, which recently got relaunched as a free-to-play title named Evolve Stage 2 back in July.

Compared with the prequel, the game is going to feature two times more quests, and that includes parallel quests from the first game. On top of that, there will be an improved take on the drop system, which was just terrible before.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is scheduled to roll out for the PC via Steam, Xbox One and PS4 on Oct. 25, and it's advised to keep an eye out for any announcement regarding the open beta starting now until then.

It's available for preorder at GameStop for $59.99, and there's also a $149.99 collector's edition that comes with a lot of Dragon Ball-related goodies, including a 13-inch Son Goku Master Stars Piece. Those who reserve a copy early will receive the Day One Edition to boot, providing them with a playable character from Dragon Ball Super and a Tao Pai Pai Stick vehicle.

Before wrapping things up, don't forget to check out the multiplayer reveal trailer below and get an idea how battles against humungous foes such as a Saiyan that turned into a Great Ape will turn out to be.
