Bandai Namco previously announced that the second installment for its highly successful Dragon Ball Xenoverse title will be launching this year.
It was unclear, though, if the game would only be launched in Japan first and have a later release date scheduled for its global launch — apparent in other Japanese games. Companies based in Japan, as is the case for the game's developer in Osaka, Dimps, usually have to port the game's language settings for a worldwide release, which in its initial stages would be in the Japanese language.
Fortunately for fans of the first title, this will not be the case for the second Xenoverse narrative series as the company is seemingly working on both launches at the same time. Perhaps its exclusive launch on current-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One, as well as Steam PC versions, also played a big part in the game's earlier (and on-time) launch since Dimps only had to focus on three platforms.
Players on old-gen consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360, will need to upgrade their systems if they wish to play the game. There's a bit of a conundrum here, however, as Sony and Microsoft are expected to release the PS4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio soon. Bandai Namco has yet to announce if Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will be compatible with these newer-gen consoles.
Nevertheless, going back to the game's slated release, PS4 and Xbox One gamers can get their copies this Oct. 25, while those on the PC platform can order theirs on Steam this Oct. 28.
The company also revealed that in addition to the game's improved customization features for the player's avatar, a set of new non-playable characters (NPCs) to interact with, an overhauled combat system, a larger hub world and overall enhanced graphics, Xenoverse 2's soundtrack will be created in collaboration with Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Steve Aoki. The trailer, on the other hand, confirmed speculations that the Super Saiyan 3 mode will be added as well.
"The special collaboration between Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. and DJ Steve Aoki adds musical depth and a new dimension to the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 experience that will surely delight players and Dragon Ball fans," the company announced.
A selection of original tracks from the anime, such as "Cha-La Head-Cha-La" and "We Gotta Power," will be remixed by Aoki to complement the game. An interactive in-game NPC of the DJ will also be appearing within the world of Xenoverse, situated in the game's hub city, Conton.
"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is shaping up to be the biggest and best Dragon Ball videogame experience to date," said Eric Hartness, vice president of marketing at Bandai Namco in the United States.
