Water has nothing on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, as a new teaser video clearly shows.
We already heard a while back that Samsung's new-generation smartphones would be waterproof, or at least water resistant, and we now have confirmation from Samsung itself.
The company's Indonesia branch is already teasing the upcoming smartphones and a neat trailer shows the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge caught in the rain, taking a shower like it's nobody's business.
Samsung Indonesia is inviting us to get ready for #TheNextGalaxy, as the unveiling is just around the corner. The company's big event is set for Feb. 21 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016, so it's less than a week away.
As you can see in the video embedded at the end of this article, Samsung Indonesia is offering a glimpse into the next-generation Samsung Galaxy flagship smartphones, presumably called the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
The teaser doesn't offer too many details, but it does reveal wireless charging capabilities, as expected, a design language very similar to the current Galaxy S6 lineup, and the waterproofing capabilities that were previously rumored.
A rainy scene shows the Galaxy S7 edge getting soaked, but it still works flawlessly and the wet display does not affect touch input. The video also confirms the rumored flat rear design, seemingly confirming that the upcoming Galaxy S7 lineup will no longer feature a protruding camera hump.
Recently leaked images from Evan Blass (@evleaks) revealed as much, showing off a sleek design with no protruding camera. The tipster also revealed that the new Galaxy S7 smartphones will hit the market on March 11.
Engadget separately confirmed this information with one of its sources, and also learned that the smartphones will indeed sport IP68 certification to make them waterproof. Moreover, the publication also confirmed the return of the microSD card support, which is among the most highly-requested features. Engadget says that both the microSD card slot and the SIM card slot will be at the top of the handset.
While the tidbits of information from Evan Blass and Engadget remain in the rumor state, however, the latest information from Samsung Indonesia holds more credibility.
Both the website and the teaser video come from channels or domains hosted under Samsung's umbrella, leaving little doubt regarding the authenticity of the content. We'll learn more when Samsung officially unveils the devices at MWC, but check out the teaser video below in the meantime.
