There has been no shortage of leaks with respect to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. A new report reconfirms the pair will be waterproof just like the Galaxy S5.
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S5 on Feb. 24, 2014, and the smartphone was widely viewed as an evolution of the popular Galaxy S4 but with a few tricks up its sleeve to entice current users to upgrade and new consumers to buy into the growing Galaxy brand. One of the Galaxy S5's standout features was its ability to be both waterproof and dust-resistant, something only Sony was known for with its smartphones and tablets, to distinguish itself from other Android rivals.
When rumors swirled about what to expect from the Galaxy S5's successor, the Galaxy S6, most were hoping for a premium build, microSD expansion, removable battery and waterproof case. Samsung only delivered the premium glass and metal construction when it released the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
Samsung is sure to please many smartphone fans and consumers when it unveils the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge on Feb. 21. The smartphones will bring back microSD expansion slots, which will allow users to expand the handset's 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will have considerably better battery life than that of their predecessors, but users won't be able to swap them out. Reports have claimed the pair will also be waterproof, just like the Galaxy S5.
Zauba, an import/export site, has revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will indeed be waterproof. The site lists several waterproof components used inside both smartphones. The list includes a waterproof mic, SIM tray and tape.
Luckily, we don't have too long a wait before Samsung's Feb. 21 event to hear it straight and officially from the company. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are expected to be released on March 11.
