Samsung Could Unveil Galaxy S7 ‘Batman v Superman’ Special Edition In March

Samsung loves superheroes, from Marvel to DC Comics. It even launched an Iron Man edition of the Galaxy S6 edge last year. This time around, it could roll out a Galaxy S7 Batman v Superman special edition.

Considering how Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is one of the biggest titles expected this year, this move shouldn't come as much of a surprise. On that note, this isn't exactly a plan set in stone yet, though.

The news comes from Korean website Naver (translated), and just like the case with the Iron Man edition, there will only be about 1,000 units of the Galaxy S7 Batman v Superman special edition that are going to be shipped out.

What's more, the report indicates that the phone will have the works, so it's safe to bet that it'll have Batman v Superman wallpapers, ringtones and media files, to name a few.

As for availability, this special edition of the Galaxy S7 is expected to go official sometime in March or April. In other words, it could launch at the same time as the March 24 premiere of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but there's also more or less a chance that it will be late by about a month.

It's also worth mentioning that the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge could hit the shelves pretty early, as Samsung usually releases special variants sometime after the standard versions. To put it differently, if the March or April debut date holds true, then the original S7 lineup could come to the market this February or March.

In the same vein, more special versions of the smartphones in question are going to see the light of day later this year. One is believed to be inspired by the 2016 Winter Olympics, and the other in collaboration with a popular singer in South Korea.

Currently, details are scarce at best, and it's probably a bad idea to expect more information at Samsung's Unpacked event on Feb. 21 before the 2016 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Nevertheless, any tidbit of information regarding a Galaxy S7 Batman v Superman special edition is great to hear.
