The launch of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge is just a week away, and talk about the upcoming smartphones continue to emerge. New rumors suggest the purported prices of the upcoming handsets.
Being Samsung premium devices, both are expected to have a premium price. They are also expected to become available in two versions: one running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and the other on the Exynos processor.
Dutch publication Tweakers (translated) cites reliable sources and reports that the Exynos-powered Galaxy S7 will have a starting price tag of 699.99 euros ($789) in the UK. Those who want to purchase the base model of the Galaxy S7 Edge will have to pay 799.99 euros ($902).
Tweakers also suggests that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 model of the devices will not make their way to the UK at all. If the rumor is correct, then the launch price of the Galaxy S7 Edge will be less than the Galaxy S6 Edge, which was initially priced at 849.99 euros ($959).
This report also backs previous rumors that Samsung will release the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge on March 11. The Dutch publication also highlights that both the Samsung mobile phones will be available in white, gold and black color options.
A previous rumor said that the Galaxy S7 will sport a 5.1-inch display while the Galaxy S7 Edge will have a 5.5-inch screen. Both the Samsung smartphone will be equipped with a 12-megapixel rear-facing and 5-megapixel selfie cameras.
The Galaxy S7 is expected to get a 3,000 mAh battery while the Galaxy S7 Edge will have a 3,600 mAh battery. The new Galaxy phones could also share the same internal memory options with the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, which came in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB on-board storage models.
Many smartphone lovers hoped that the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge will have the option to expand the memory with a microSD card. Unfortunately, they were disappointed as the devices did not include a microSD card slot. However, if rumors are to be believed then both the Galaxy S7 models will offer the option to expand the memory to an additional 200 GB.
With the launch of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge ahead of the Mobile World Congress on Feb. 21, we will soon know what the company has in store and if the price point matches that of the rumors.
