As Samsung prepares to officially unveil the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, its upcoming Galaxy Note 6 is making news. The next-gen phablet will reportedly feature a 5.8-inch "Slim RGB" AMOLED display, 6 GB of RAM, and 12-megapixel camera with "Super OIS Plus."
Samsung is expected to officially announce its 2016 flagship smartphones on Feb. 21 to kick off Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona. The company took home the highly coveted "Best New Handset, Tablet or Device" award at last year's show when it launched the Galaxy S6 edge and it's setting itself up to repeat history with the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, which will include some notable new features.
The Galaxy S7 will use a 5.1-inch 2,560 x 1,440 Quad HD display. Unlike last year's Galaxy S6 edge, which had the same size display of the S6, Samsung has increased the size of the Galaxy S7 edge's display to 5.5-inches, likely to position the phablet to compete with Apple's iPhone 6s Plus, which rocks the same size display. The pair will also use Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 820 processor, and a recent benchmark revealed impressive scores.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have been making headlines on an almost daily basis leading up to Samsung's Feb. 21 event, and now a new Samsung device, the Galaxy Note 6, has leaked with some very impressive specs and new features.
If Samsung sticks to the same schedule it did with the Galaxy Note 5, we should expect to see the Galaxy Note 6 announced in August. A Weibo user posted some of the Galaxy Note 6's reported specs and if true, this is going to be one very powerful phablet.
According to the tipster, the Galaxy Note 6 will reportedly feature a larger 5.8-inch 2,560 x 1,440 Quad HD "Slim RGB" Super AMOLED display and generously increase the onboard RAM from the Note 5's 4 GB to 6 GB, making it the first smartphone to include this much RAM and rivaling desktop computers.
The source says Samsung will use a 12-megapixel rear camera on the Galaxy Note 6 but it will include "Super OIS Plus." The phablet will supposedly be offered in a 64 GB model and 128 GB variant.
As always, it's best to take reports of highly anticipated, unannounced devices with a huge grain of salt. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new Galaxy Note 6 details as they become available.
