4.7-inch iPhone 6 knockoff running modified and iOS 8-inspired Android 4.4.2 KitKat (Video)

Apple's iPhone 6 hasn't even been officially announced yet and it's already being cloned. The Wico i6 is a 4.7-inch Android 4.4.2 KitKat smartphone in an iPhone 6-inspired case.

When Apple released the original iPhone in 2007, the company forever changed the look of smartphones. The most popular smartphones at the time had a very different look when compared with Apple's handset. The most popular smartphones at the time mostly featured physical QWERTY-equipped keyboards like the BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Pearl, Palm Treo 755p, Samsung BlackJack, Moto Q and Nokia E62.

Steve Jobs highlighted why Apple's risky decision to use an on-screen keyboard on the iPhone made perfect sense, because the keyboard would only appear when users needed it and would disappear and provide users with more screen real estate space, something fixed QWERTY smartphones could not offer.

Many of Apple's biggest smartphone rivals completely revamped the designs of their handsets by ditching physical QWERTY keyboards after it became evident that Apple was on to something. Just take a look at what Samsung's smartphones looked like before iPhone and how they were designed after.

They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery and now Apple's unannounced iPhone 6 has been cloned in China. The Wico i6 looks very similar to Apple's 4.7-inch iPhone 6, complete with an iOS 8 skin running on top of Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

A hands-on video of the Wico i6 has appeared on Nowhereelse.fr. The smartphone is housed inside what is expected to be the 4.7-inch silver iPhone 6's case (this version is plastic) complete with side power button, rectangular volume buttons, and Touch ID Home button. On the rear of the handset we get to see a protruding camera, iPhone and FCC certification stamps, and all the way down to Apple's familiar "Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China." label.

The Wico i6 features a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1704 x 960 and a pixel density of 320 ppi (pixels per inch). The smartphone is powered by a quad-core ARM processor, a Mali-400 GPU (graphics processing unit), and 2 GB of RAM. It ships with 32 GB of internal storage and, as previously mentioned, runs a customized version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
