Midrange Smartphones: Why Buy Them And What Are The Best Ones On The Market?

A number of smartphones have been launched this year, ranging from entry-level to top-end phones. All mobile phone customers may not opt for a top-end phone and there are many midrange smartphone offerings that can attract these customers.

Here is a list of some smartphones that have impressive features and are, at the same time, pocket-friendly to customers.

HTC One A9

HTC launched the new HTC One A9 on Oct. 20. The handset is the first non-Nexus smartphone to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. The phone is available for preorder directly from HTC's official website for $399.99 and delivery will start in November this year.

The HTC One A9 sports a 5-inch AMOLED display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels of screen resolution. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a RAM of 3 GB powers the device. It comes with 16 GB or 32 GB of on-board storage with the option to expand the memory to up to 2 TB with a microSD card.

The HTC offering is also equipped with a 13-MP primary camera and a 4-MP selfie camera.

Samsung Galaxy S5

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the company's flagship smartphone of 2014. Even though the successor of the handset - the Galaxy S6 - was launched this year, the Galaxy S5 still has impressive specs to attract customers looking for a mid-ranged phone.

The Galaxy S5 comes with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. A 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 2 GB of RAM runs the device. The mobile phone is available in memory capacities of 16 GB or 32 GB with the option to increase the storage to a further 128 GB using a microSD card.

The phone packs a 16-MP front-facing and 2.1-MP rear-facing camera.

Best Buy is offering the Galaxy S5 for $499.99.

Motorola Moto X Pure Edition

The Motorola handset was released in early September this year and fits perfectly in the midrange handsets in the market with a price tag of $449.

The phone packs a 5.7-inch display with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels of screen resolution. It also has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and 3 GB of RAM. The handset is available with 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB of on-board storage. The presence of microSD card slot allows customers to expand the memory to up to 128 GB.

The Moto X Pure Edition has a 21-MP rear camera and a 5-MP front camera.

iPhone 5s

The iPhone 5s is Apple's flagship device of 2013. The launch of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6s has led to a price drop of the iPhone 5s. However, the iPhone 5s may still attract customers who want to use an iOS device but do not wish to spend hundreds of dollars.

The iPhone 5s has a 4-inch display with 1,136 x 640 pixels resolution. An Apple A7 processor, which was the fastest iPhone processor of 2013, powers the iPhone 5s. The 16 GB and the 32 GB variants of the phone are available directly from Apple's website for $450 and $499, respectively.

The iPhone 5s has an 8-MP iSight camera and a 1.2-MP FaceTime camera.

HTC One M9

The HTC One M9 was released in April this year. The handset has a 5-inch screen with a display resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and 3 GB of RAM powers the device.

The HTC smartphone is available with 32 GB internal storage. Customers can use a microSD card to expand the memory. The handset has a 20-MP rear-facing and 4-MP front-facing camera.

The handset is currently available from Amazon for $439.49.
