AT&T launched its Next plans in July 2013 that require customers to sign an installment agreement to pay for smartphones in monthly installment payments. Payments can be made up to 30 months, amounts of which are determined by the full retail price of the handset.
Under the Next 24 plan, the retail price of the handset is divided in 30 equal installments. Next 18 requires 24 equal monthly installments and Next 12 comes with the option to pay for the mobile handset in 20 equal installments. Well-qualified customers will not have to make any up front payment if taking a handset under any of these plans.
Recently, AT&T also revealed the new Next 12 plan with down payment, where customers have to pay 30 percent of the device up front and the balance is divided in 28 monthly installments.
