Lego 'Dr. Who' Weeping Angels Will Give You Nightmares

The Weeping Angels are back with a vengeance. They are scarier. They are weepier. They are faster and more vicious than ever. So don't blink.

Note: If you don't want spoilers for the Doctor Who section of Lego Dimensions, now would be a good time to turn back. But if you have a flair for guilty pleasures, or if you simply don't mind, then by all means, read ahead.

Just when you thought you had long escaped the horror and nightmares brought about by Steven Moffat's 2007 "Blink," think again. These brick form babies are now part of Lego Dimensions, released Sept. 27, a game that combines Lego licenses such as Back to the Future, Scooby Doo, Lord of the Rings, and now, Doctor Who.

The Lego video games have always been well-known for their attention to detail, but Doctor Who has far surpassed its Lego game predecessors. With the flickering light effect and the Weeping Angels slowly moving towards you, this game reaches out of the screen and grabs you by the collar.

In the Doctor Who expansion, all of the doctors are playable in Lego form. You'll regenerate as the first Doctor, and then cycle through the series. Your TARDIS is also bound to change, depending on which Doctor you play. As the first Doctor, you will get a vintage, black-and-white time machine, but you can select version of the Doctor Who theme through the jukebox in the TARDIS. Other playable characters, such as Dalek and K-9, are available for purchase as Lego Minifigs.

Peter Capaldi, who plays doctor who, lends his voice for this game. He is also joined by Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald) and Michelle Gomez (Missy).

"The demands and the ambition that the game makers have imposed upon themselves are very high," says Capaldi about his experience working with Lego Dimensions. "They've given themselves the task of creating something that's very entertaining, very exciting and dramatic. If we're just going to use these characters as marketing devices that aren't particularly thought-through or exciting, then no. But that's not where we are, and that's the really exciting thing," he adds.

Lego has introduced more than 50 games since its 1997 release of Lego Island. Though earlier games were created exclusively, Lego has released games based on licensed, non-Lego intellectual properties. Lego Dimensions was developed by English software house Traveller's Tales and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game is available for the PlayStation 3 and 4, Wii U, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Lego Dimensions branches out into different worlds with different portals and characters following a toys-to-life format. The current line-up includes characters from Back to the Future, DC Comics, Jurassic World, Scooby Doo, Lord of the Rings, Simpsons and Wizard of Oz.

The video below features Batman, Gandalf, and Wildlife, as they try to move up to the next level. The challenge is to solve the puzzle in this room brimming with Weeping Angels.
