If you liked Motorola's budget Moto G, but wished it had 4G LTE speeds instead of slow 3G speeds, you'll be happy to know the Unlocked Moto G 4G LTE is now available from Motorola.
Motorola has been struggling for years to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung in the high-end smartphone market. The company's flagship smartphones never took off the way it had hoped, so Motorola began to shift its focus to budget smartphones that came with some flagship features.
The Moto G was announced last November and it has become Motorola's best-selling smartphone ever. The key to its success lies in its very capable specs and affordable price. There was one huge feature missing that almost every review of the smartphone pointed out -- it only shipped with a 3G radio in a 4G LTE world.
Motorola realized that the already very popular Moto G would be even more attractive with built-in 4G LTE support. Motorola announced the Moto G 4G LTE in May and now the company is selling the unlocked smartphone through its online store.
The Moto G 4G LTE features a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 HD IPS (in-plane switching) Gorilla Glass 3 display with a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch (ppi) and runs the latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat. The smartphone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, Adreno 305 GPU (graphics processing unit) and 1 GB of RAM. It includes 8 GB of internal storage and microSD expansion slot that will support up to 32 GB microSD cards.
The Moto G 4G LTE's camera capabilities consist of a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. It also has a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chat. In terms of wireless connectivity, you'll find a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE (low energy) and GPS. It packs a nonremovable 2070 mAh battery that Motorola says will last up to 24 hours of mixed usage.
The Moto G 4G LTE is sold unlocked, so no need to sign any contracts. The company is offering the smartphone through its online store for $219.
