Motorola's most successful smartphone has been its mid-range and inexpensive Moto G. The company is about to launch the Moto E and the smartphone's specs have just leaked ahead of its official announcement.
When Motorola launched the Moto X, the smartphone was supposed to change the smartphone landscape with its customization features using the company's Moto Maker service, which allows customers to choose different colors for the smartphone's front and rear, as well as accent colors to make the device as unique as the owner carrying it. The Moto X never lived up to the hype and was seen as a modest success for the company.
Motorola then launched the Moto G, which used most of the Moto X's design but its lower end specs allowed the company to sell the smartphone for a very attractive low price. The handset has gone down as Motorola's most successful smartphone and its price is widely seen as the reason why. The company is now expected to release the Moto E, an even cheaper and thinner smartphone that will share similar specs to the Moto G. We now have a pretty good idea of what those specs will be.
Xataka Mexico has published the complete specs for the upcoming Moto E. According to the site, the Moto E will feature a 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 HD display, which happens to be very similar to the Moto G's 4.5-inch 720p display. The smartphone will reportedly ship with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly. Unlike the Moto G, the Moto E will be able to increase its storage through the use of a microSD expansion slot and it will also reportedly include 4GB of internal storage.
The site claims that one of the Moto E's main features will be an ultra light and thin design. It will reportedly be 6.2 millimeters thick. The smartphone will be available in choice of black or white and will be customizable to an extent through the use of snap on back plates that will be available in different colors and textures, similar to the Moto G.
The Moto E is reportedly set to initially launch in Mexico and be rolled out to other regions shortly after its launch. There's no mention of a U.S. launch, but considering the Moto G has done very well in the U.S., it seems very likely we should see this smartphone stateside in the near future. Stay tuned for more Moto E information as it becomes available.
