More details on Motorola Moto X+1 leak with image of smartphone's 1080p Full HD display

New details about Motorola's upcoming flagship smartphone, the Moto X+1, have leaked again. The smartphone will reportedly be thinner and feature a 5-inch 1080p Full HD AMOLED display.

Motorola has put major focus on the entry-level smartphone market with devices like the Moto G and Moto E. The smartphones have relatively low prices and are targeted toward first-time smartphone buyers and people not looking to get locked into a two-year contract. The Moto G has been Motorola's best-selling smartphone and its price is the major reason why.

The company sells the Moto E and Moto G smartphones unlocked without contract through Motorola's online store and they are popular devices offered as a pre-paid smartphone. The unlocked Moto E starts at $129, while the more impressive Moto G with its 4.5-inch 720p HD display is offered unlocked for $179. The Moto G also takes major design inspiration from Motorola's flagship Moto X. While it can't be used with the company's Moto Maker customization site, the company sells swappable rear cases to bring some sort of customization to the table.

Motorola is reportedly planning to launch its next flagship smartphone and the handset is expected to look like a combination of the Moto X and Motorola Droid Ultra available from Verizon. The smartphone is expected to officially be named the Moto X+1 when it launches in late August or early September.

TK Tech News reports that it has received a tip from a Motorola employee it has been working with, confirming some details of what we can expect to see when the Moto X+1 goes on sale in late August or early September.

The Moto X+1 is said to feature a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD AMOLED display with thin bezels and will run the latest version of Android. Just like the Moto X, the upcoming smartphone will be sold unlocked from Motorola and through carriers and will come with 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB of internal storage. Users will be able to expand that since Motorola has added a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 128 GB microSD cards.

The source claims the Moto X+1 has the same rounded back and dimple design Motorola introduced with the Moto X. It was also described as being slimmer and having a "thinner chin" than its predecessor. The site published the image above, which shows off the Moto X+1's 5-inch 1080p display.

September is turning out to be a popular launch month with smartphone makers. Apple is expected to launch the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6. Samsung is widely believed ready to announce its Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy F / S5 Prime at IFA in Berlin. Motorola might want to reconsider launching the Moto X+1 in September so it doesn't get lost in the fold.
