AT&T has announced that it will be one of the first carriers to offer Samsung's new Galaxy Tab S tablets. The carrier will add the 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S to its tablet lineup.
Samsung officially announced its latest flagship tablets at an event the company held on June 12 in New York City. The 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S both feature gorgeous, high-resolution 2560 x 1600 Super AMOLED displays and Samsung's latest assault on Apple's iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display.
"We are excited to bring the Samsung Galaxy Tab S to the nation's most reliable 4G LTE network2," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president for devices, at AT&T. "AT&T offers the largest selection of Samsung devices and the Galaxy Tab S with access to 4G LTE will bring innovative new features and capabilities to Android device users. We are proud that AT&T will be among the first to offer this to consumers."
The AT&T Samsung Galaxy Tab S will be available in a choice of 8.4-inch or 10.5-inch Super AMOLED displays that have a resolution of 2560 x 1600. The tablets are powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 GPU (graphics processing unit), and 3 GB of RAM to keep things running extra smooth. AT&T hasn't announced if it will be carrying the 16 GB or 32 GB models; either way, Samsung has included a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 128 GB microSD cards.
Both tablets ship with an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash that is capable of recording 1080p Full HD video at 30FPS and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and selfiies. In terms of wireless connectivity, it has a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE (low energy), GPS, NFC, and IR Blaster that turns the tablet into a universal remote control. The tablets are running Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Samsung's latest version of its Magazine UX. The 8.4-inch Galaxy Tab S packs in a 4,900 mAh battery, while the 10.5-inch model will use a 7,900 mAh battery.
Samsung has also equipped both Galaxy Tab S tablets with a fingerprint scanner that's embedded in the tablet's home button, just like the Galaxy S5. The tablets will be available in choice of Titanium Bronze and Dazzling White.
