The Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime / Galaxy F has just passed through the FCC. The FCC filing lists the smartphone's dimensions and a 5.2-inch display.
When it comes to releasing smartphones and tablets at alarming rates, no one does it better than Samsung. The company likes to cater to consumers by giving them many choices in their mobile gear with varying display sizes, specs and price of admission. Samsung is about to introduce new Galaxy Tab S tablets on June 12 that will pack in high-resolution 2560 x 1600 Super AMOLED displays, which produce truer colors and richer tones. We also know that the company is preparing to unveil its next-generation Galaxy Note 4 in September.
We just reported that new images of Samsung's premium version of its Galaxy S5 flagship, which will officially be named the Galaxy F or Galaxy S5 Prime, have leaked. The smartphone will match LG's G3 in terms of its 2560 x 1440 QHD display and have powerful internals that surpass Samsung's current flagship Galaxy S5.
The Samsung Galaxy F / Galaxy S5 Prime has made its way through the FCC for certification. The smartphone is listed by three model numbers; SM-G906S, SM-G906K and SM-G906L. The documents also provide the smartphone's exact dimensions -- it measures in at 142mm x 72.5mm, which makes its size match the current Galaxy S5. The smartphone will reportedly ship with a slightly larger 5.2-inch display when it hits retail shelves.
The dimensions in the FCC filing information matche multiple reports that this smartphone will be a premium version of the Galaxy S5. The handset will feature a very similar design to the Galaxy S5 but feature a 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 QHD display and will ditch Samsung's love of plastic for a more high-end brushed aluminum rear case (as seen in the recent leaked images). When it comes to internals, the Galaxy F / Galaxy S5 Prime will sport a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3 GB of RAM, which is a step up from the Galaxy S5's Snapdragon 801 chip and 2 GB of RAM.
In terms of camera capabilities, the smartphone is believed to be using a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilization) and 2.1-megapixel front facing camera. The handset will also be IP67 certified waterproof and dust-resistant and include a heart rate sensor below its rear camera, just like the Galaxy S5.
Now that we have the FCC listing and new images of the Galaxy F / Galaxy S5 Prime, it's getting harder to doubt this handset is on its way. We'll be sure to keep our eyes and ears open for any info on this smartphone and will share it with you.
