With stirring woodwind music and elegant vistas, Assassin's Creed Syndicate wants to welcome you to London, circa 1868.
"London Horizon" is the title of this latest trailer for Syndicate (yes, even trailers have names now), and it's all about the setting. Protagonists Jacob and Evie Frye are barely seen, and not a single word of dialogue is spoken. Instead, the trailer introduces players to Syndicate's setting by treating Victorian London like a character in its own right.
A myriad of locations throughout London are on display, all of them bustling with NPC life and the crank-and-gear busyness of the industrial revolution. You'll see views from throughout the day, from sunrise to sunset and beyond, as the trailer quickly walks you through the seven districts or neighborhoods that you'll visit in the game. Those areas include the City of London proper, Lambeth, Southwark, the Strand, Thames, Westminster and Whitechapel.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate is the ninth major release in the franchise, but the first to be developed primarily at a studio outside of Ubisoft Montreal. This one is developed by Ubisoft Quebec, and as such, fans have high hopes that exciting new life can be breathed into the franchise. Assassin's Creed Unity was a big hit (after it sorted out all the glitches at launch) as the first title in the series exclusively made for next-gen consoles, but most reviewers agreed that it signaled a need to shake up the franchise.
One major twist in Syndicate is that, for the first time ever, players will be able to switch back and forth between the two protagonists. The story has twins Jacob and Evie Frye fighting to free London from Templar control via the city's gangs.
Take a look at its setting.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate arrives for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 23, 2015, and for Windows PC on November 19.
