WWE 2K16 Releases Gameplay Trailer Of Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs. Jake The Snake Roberts Match

WWE fans will fondly remember Stone Cold Steve Austin defeating Jake The Snake Roberts to be named 1996 King of the Ring, delivering his classic "Austin 3:16" line as part of his celebratory speech afterwards. Right then and there, the legend of Stone Cold was really born and the momentum steamrolled en route to him taking off as one of World Wrestling Entertainment's most legendary superstars of all time.

Well, working toward the October 27 release of WWE 2K16, the title recreated that classic match and moment by releasing a new gameplay trailer, pitting the Texas Rattlesnake against Jake The Snake, on Tuesday (August 25).

Announcer Jim Ross helps paint the picture heading into the King of the Ring final match, explaining that Austin just got 16 stitches in his mouth and tongue after his semifinal bout with Marc Mero and Roberts suffered internal damage following his own semifinal match against Vader.

That being said, Austin—in typical Stone Cold fashion—didn't wait for the bell to toll, rushing Roberts immediately. Just as the actual match went, Austin takes it to Roberts early, but Jake fights all the way back to nail his DDT finisher on the Texas Rattlesnake and nearly get the pinfall. However, Austin eventually regains the advantage and pins Roberts following a Stone Cold Stunner. A new King is born!

The gameplay trailer even ends with Austin delivering his classic post-King of the Ring speech.

"You sit there and you thump your bible and say your prayers and it didn't get you anywhere," Austin said into the microphone being held by Dok Hendrix about Roberts, who was touting a deeply-religious persona at the time. "Talk about your psalms, talk about John:16...Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!"

Great gameplay trailer.
