Initial 'WWE 2K16' Gameplay Details Revealed

WWE 2K16 gameplay details are emerging, and wrestling fans and gamers alike will be thrilled to know that this year's installment feels more authentic and real than possibly ever before.

An IGN report Tuesday (August 4) points to WWE 2K16 improving its technical wrestling aspects, including simple grappling and reversals — two basics of the squared circle.

According to IGN, the match pacing and overall gameplay makes a concerned push to simulation, in which chain grappling is now impacted by wrestlers' attribute values, resulting in everything from ties, breaks and cheap shots. Characters can even grapple, recover and improve their stamina, while weakening opponents' power — something that occurs in actual WWE wrestling.

Another key change with WWE 2K16 is regenerating reversals. A neat wrinkle allows gamers to bypass their initial chance to use a reversal and opt to use it at a more difficult time later in the match. However, if it's unsuccessful at that time, it will make you forfeit two reversals.

Other gameplay details include the return of ladder, handicap and tornado tag matches after they were all scrapped from WWE 2K15. Ditto for the Create a Show, Create an Arena, Create a Diva and Create a Championship modes.

The MyCareer mode has expanded all the way to a WWE Hall of Fame admission, and wrestlers can now be booked to several shows via WWE Universe. In addition, there are no more loading lapses between entrances, and matches are called by JBL, Jerry "The King" Lawler and Michael Cole for a more crisp feel.

The game's roster includes over 120 wrestlers, including NXT superstars. Let's just say Stone Cold Steve Austin is particularly excited about the prospect of facing one opponent in the game.

WWE 2K16 is scheduled for an October 27 release.
