As many expected, Electronic Arts announced a new expansion pack for The Sims 4 during its Gamescom 2015 presentation Wednesday. Though it may not be one of the ideas I suggested earlier this week for a new expansion pack, The Sims 4 Get Together still looks like it will put a refreshing twist on some of the expansions we've seen for Sims games in the past.
As you can probably gather from the title, Get Together adds new locations, objects and gameplay to help your Sims be the social butterflies that they always wanted to be. The expansion pack will introduce a new European-inspired world into the game called Windenburg, which, from the trailer below, looks like a hodgpodge of a Bavarian town square, an English pub and a Dutch nightclub. In other words, playing Get Together will be like reliving your junior year of college studying abroad.
In addition to the impressive variety of locations made available with this expansion pack, Get Together will also allow your Sims to join different Clubs, each of which has its own distinct characteristics, behaviors and preferences. The expansion pack comes with some pre-set Clubs, but you will also be able to create your own and customize their attributes, such as their requirements, preferred hang-out spots and rewards.
Get Together will allow your Sims to interact with new objects, such as playing with a foosball table or getting changed (or doing other activities) in the new walk-in closet. Sims will also be able to level up their dancing and DJing skills in Windenburg's Underground Disco.
Get Together seems unique in that there has never really been a Sims expansion pack dedicated to friendship before. However, Get Together does feature elements of the nightlife, party, travel and college life expansion packs we've already seen added to the franchise.
Get Together will be released worldwide in November, but more details about the new expansion pack should become available in early October, according to a post on The Sims 4 official website announcing the news. Until then, you can watch the trailer for Get Together below to see what else you can expect from this new expansion pack.
