With the official unveiling of Samsung's new smartphones approaching, the rumor mill is never going to stop spinning until all Samsung fans have given the new devices a good, long tryout.
The latest leak to come out of the rumor mill is from serial Twitter leaker Evan Blass, also known as @EVLeaks, who announced his retirement in 2014 but seems to be back. Blass, who is known for his reputation for his accurate leaks, has acquired what looks to be reliable information from his sources about the specs of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and it appears that the successor to Samsung's current phablet is one great device to look forward to.
Blass is referring to a device with model number SM-N920 and named Samsung Noble, which is the internal code name for the Galaxy Note 5. Under the hood, the device will come running with Samsung's homegrown Exynos 7420 mobile processor, the same chipset that powers the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, which has also been proven in some benchmark tests as more powerful than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810.
The octa-core processor will have four 2.1 GHz cores, while the other four cores will clock at 1.5 GHz. This will be paired with 4GB of RAM to further boost performance and allow the mobile device to function like a PC, as well as 32GB of built-in storage. As expected, however, the Galaxy Note 5 will not have a microSD slot for expanding the storage. The device will also reportedly sport a 5.66-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2,560 by 1,440 pixels.
The Galaxy Note 5, along with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and possibly the Samsung Gear A smartwatch, is expected to be revealed by Samsung at its Aug. 13 Unpacked event, where fans can go online to watch at 11 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
