Motorola took the wraps off the Moto X Style on July 28 and the camera of the smartphone has proven to be better than Apple iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
The Moto X Style sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD display with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution. Under the hood is a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor and 3GB of RAM. A 3,000mAh battery powers the Moto X Style. The smartphone also features a TurboPower charging feature that powers the battery for 10 hours of use just within 15 minutes.
The Moto X Style is equipped with a 21MP primary camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. Reviewing the camera capabilities of the handset DxOMark has also praised the Moto X Style.
"The Moto X Style offers a 21-Mpix camera with a wide-angle lens, rapid autofocus and low shutter lag, plus a color-balancing built-in flash. In our industry standard photo and video tests, consisting of real world use and stringent lab analysis, this new Moto achieves some highly competitive results, proving that there's no distinction between style and substance," per DxOMark.
With a DxOMark Mobile score of 83 the Moto X Style is just behind Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. The handset shares the same score with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
"With an over DxOMark Mobile score of 83 points, the Moto X Style is just three points behind our current leader the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and shows the maker hasn't prioritized style over substance," per DxOMark.
The iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the Sony Xperia Z3+ have achieved 82 in the DxOMark Mobile score.
In photography: white balance, accurate autofocus and low noise in outdoor photos helped the Moto X Style to get high scores from DxOMark. However, overexposed images with flash and saturation in photos of blue sky pushed the scores slightly down.
Moto X Style's video capturing capabilities received high scores for detail preservation in all light conditions and fast adjustments of exposure.
The Moto X Style is scheduled for a release in September this year. Motorola has not yet confirmed the price of the upcoming handset but it is expected to have a starting price tag of $399.
Nowadays, camera quality of phones has become an important aspect for many customers to choose their ideal handset. It remains to be seen if the camera of the Moto X Style is able to attract many smartphone buyers in the near term.
