Samsung is expected to launch a Galaxy S6 Edge+ variant soon and more information now hints at the device's potential specifications.
When it comes to big players such as Samsung, the rumor mill is always churning in anticipation of new device launches and various tidbits of information surface before the actual unveiling.
While recent rumors pertaining to upcoming Samsung devices have focused mostly on the highly-anticipated Galaxy Note 5, the purported Galaxy S6 Edge+ starred in plenty of leaks as well.
As the name itself suggests, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is expected to launch as a larger version of the dual-edge Galaxy S6 Edge, and could make its debut alongside the Galaxy Note 5.
Various reports so far have hinted at various specifications for the Galaxy Note Edge+, but the latest leak seems to contradict some previous claims. More specifically, a Geekbench entry now lists some alleged specifications for the upcoming phablet and it paints a different picture than what we've heard before for the processor and RAM department.
Most notably, previous rumors predominantly indicated that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ could pack a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor under the hood, but the newly-leaked Geekbench entry lists the SM-G928F with an in-house Exynos 7420 processor. The Exynos 7420 already powers the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge flagships, while an upgraded Exynos 7422 is reportedly set to grace the upcoming Galaxy Note 5.
This is not the first time the Exynos 7420 is speculated for the Galaxy S6 Edge+, but a previous report that made such a claim did not offer any evidence to support it. The Geekbench listing may not be definitive evidence either, but it does lend more credibility.
The benchmark entry further lists the Galaxy S6 Edge+ with 4GB of RAM on board, which falls in line with a previous report, but contradicts other previous leaks that hinted at 3GB of RAM.
In conclusion, everything is still quite hazy when it comes to the hardware specifications of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, but Samsung could shed some light on the matter soon enough. The company just confirmed that its next Samsung Unpacked event is scheduled for Aug. 13, which means that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ could make their official debut in a little more than two weeks.
