After watching two trailers for the movie, it's plain to see that Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is taking itself very seriously. For years, fans have been clamoring for a dark and gritty DC Cinematic Universe, and for the most part, it looks like Batman v. Superman will be just that.
Then again, there's always room for a bit of levity — no one wants to hear Ben Affleck growl into a camera for two hours. With any luck, Zack Snyder won't forget to include a few jokes in Batman v. Superman — or, if he does, the fans can always do it themselves.
Case in point: as serious and grim as the Comic-Con 2015 Batman v. Superman trailer was, YouTuber Albert Lopez noticed a parallel between the teaser and a certain It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia bit — namely, the fight between the Dayman and the Nightman...
For those who have yet to see It's Always Sunny (shame on you), the song comes from a series of episodes in which the gang tries to start a band — their first and only song is "Dayman," and it's just as bizarre as anything else the show has ever come up with...
It's actually kind of amazing how well the song works with the trailer. It's clear that Warner Bros. was trying to show just how opposite Batman and Superman are, though some may argue that the studio was being less than subtle...
Sadly, chances are slim that Batman v. Superman will make its way to Philadelphia — then again, with the sheer number of characters in the Justice League, who's to say that Dayman couldn't make an appearance one day?
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia will return for its eleventh season sometime in the coming months, while Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
