Season 5 of Teen Wolf has gotten off to a great start, but episode 2, which is titled Parasomnia, gave the show well-needed slowdown as fans try to come to grips with all the madness that is happening.
The episode kicked off with Tracy having a chat with Lydia's mother about the challenges of being a teenager in Beacon Hills. Tracy, for some strange reason, has been experiencing night terrors.
At first we thought this had to do with all the murders that took place in the town, but after getting a closer look, we came to the conclusion that this girl is not normal. Her night terrors seem to have been caused by the mysterious group that showed up in the first episode, and before the episode came to a standstill, this was proven to be correct.
Nothing will ever top the Jackson and snake scene in season 2 for us, but seeing Tracy vomiting black goo in spectacular fashion was great to see, though as expected, terrifying for her.
The writers of the show seem to have gotten a lot better at their job this time around, as they no longer make us believe the characters are senseless corpses. We say this because Scott didn't take forever to seek help from Deaton. He didn't have all the answers, but he did reveal how Liam is the only one who can absorb Scott's power.
Why is this?
Since Scott is a true Alpha, only a werewolf that he created could take his power. Furthermore, since Deaton has made this very clear, we suspect something might happen in the coming episodes that will see Liam making a serious move to steal Scott's power for the mysterious group.
Stiles and Malia, on the other hand, are still weird and funny as usual. They didn't have much to do in this episode, but we enjoyed them nonetheless.
Overall, Parasomnia was a solid episode, and we can only hope the others keep with the momentum. We want to learn more of what is going on with Lydia as she seems to have been captured and forced to tell the story of what is happening now.
As for Tracy? Yeah, she's a werewolf, and she'll be out to kill Scott before long.
