The Zopo Z Watch teaser that is surfacing online hints at an elegant smartwatch with a circular design. The Chinese smartphone maker already has a number of handsets on the market and soon the company may also introduce a new smartwatch.
The wearable industry, which includes smartwatches, is growing at a rapid pace. A recent International Data Corporation (IDC) report shows that the wearable market has grown by threefold in the first quarter of 2016 in comparison to the same period of 2014.
"It demonstrates growing end-user interest and the vendors' ability to deliver a diversity of devices and experiences. In addition, demand from emerging markets is on the rise and vendors are eager to meet these new opportunities," stated Ramon Llamas, IDC research manager for wearables.
There are already big players in the smartwatch arena, namely Samsung, LG and lately Apple, which entered the market with the launch of the Apple Watch.
Zopo is not well known in the western markets, but the company has many fans in China and other international markets. Zopo also has a number of handsets that have attracted many smartphone fans. The company hopes that its Z Watch would also be able to entice customers.
Israeli website TGSpot reports that the official teaser of the smartwatch has been surfacing in social media. The teaser image is not very clear, but it sure looks like a watch. It seems that the Z Watch will be similar in looks to the Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch.
The upcoming Z Watch might also sport a gold color to give it a rich look, although other color options may also be available.
The speculated wearable is estimated to be made of metal and is believed to be compatible with iOS and Android smartphones. Existing smartwatches offer a number of nifty features, depending on one's interests, be they fitness or music.
The Zopo Z Watch is also expected to have features, such as a heart rate monitor and notifications system, among others. Custom Zopo software running on top of Android platform is supposed to run the Z Watch.
The release date and other specs of the smartwatch remain unknown; however, market observers believe that the Z Watch may make an official appearance in the next few weeks.
