Some owners of the OnePlus One smartphone have been experiencing issues with the touchscreen of their devices. While the problem is not a widespread one, it is still an important one that needs to be fixed for the company.
OnePlus has released a new build of the Cyanogen OS recently which looks to fix the said touchscreen sensitivity issues for OnePlus One. OnePlus now has also released an update to the OxygenOS to take the operating system to version 1.01, also looking to address the touchscreen problems being reported by certain users.
The forum post on the official OnePlus forums, however, does not clarify a complete changelog for the OxygenOS update, only mentioning that the update will serve as a patch for the touchscreen problem.
The firmware for OxygenOS 1.01 can be downloaded through the forum post.
The forum post, however, also noted that members of the XDA and Fastboot Mobile groups developed a migration tool that will allow users to migrate their OnePlus One smartphones from Cyanogen OS into OxygenOS without losing any of the stored data within the device.
The tool is currently in its beta stage and so is not guaranteed to work without any problems. Users looking to use the tool should follow the instructions carefully to reduce the chance that their OnePlus One smartphones can suffer damage.
To use the tool, users will need the .Net 4.5 framework installed within a Windows 7 or Windows 8 computer. The instructions on how to use the tool are included in the forum post for the Oxygen OS 1.0.1 patch, with that patch also needed to be downloaded as it will be used by the tool.
After unzipping the tool and downloading the latest OxygenOS version, users can go into the Settings menu of their OnePlus One devices and go into Developer options to uncheck the Update CM Recovery option. After plugging in the smartphone to the computer, users can then run the OnePlusOneMigration.exe software and then accept and follow all the prompts that will appear. Afterwards, Cyanogen OS OnePlus One devices should have been migrated to OxygenOS.
Migrating from Cyanogen OS to OxygenOS used to be a daunting task, and this tool, along with the possible solution to touchscreen issues, should be enough reason for users to finally make the switch.
