Those Screen Junkies are funny people, but man do they know how to ruin our childhood memories.
Their latest parody is an Honest Trailer for Toy Story. The first one — the one that won all kinds of awards and changed the world of animation forever. You probably remember Toy Story as a delightful comedy adventure with a clever sense of humor, lovable characters and eye-popping visuals.
The Screen Junkies seem to remember it differently.
In their wickedly funny minds, Toy Story was a disturbing commentary on childhood innocence lost, parental negligence and emotional scarring. And that's before the video delves into profound questions about the "lives" of toys and Andy's absent father.
But just when it starts getting a little too unsettling, up pops actor Will Sasso doing a scathing Randy Newman impression. Also watch for a stock footage cameo of Friends stars Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry learning Windows 95. ("Look, Matty! I'm computing!")
Content warning: While there's nothing offensive in this one, we still suggest keeping the kids away from it.
Have you ever pondered any of that stuff about the rules of Toy Story's world? It's probably best not to. We'll stick to just appreciating Pixar's movies for what they are, and leave the questions to the philosophers.
Truthfully, the only thing we find genuinely troubling about this Honest Trailer is how the narrator seems to forget to use his "awesome movie voice" for most of it.
