'Gone Girl' Finally Gets The 'Honest Trailer' Treatment

Gone Girl was one of the last big hits of 2014, and as such, it stirred up quite a bit of discussion. Critics absolutely loved the movie, citing director David Fincher's dark, almost oppressive style as a huge selling point - and while the script was incredibly dark and full of violence, the film was a massive success. It's rare that critics agree so wholeheartedly on one film, but Gone Girl seems to have made quite an impact.

That's great and all, but what about the people who don't want to shell out the money to see the whole movie? What about the people who don't have nearly three hours to spend on what appears to be a standard thriller? What about the people who still have no idea what the critics are talking about?

That, dear readers, is where the Honest Trailers come in:

Screen Junkies has hit it out of the park again. Gone Girl is an intensely dark movie with a lot of bizarre and unsettling content, and it's all captured perfectly in the Honest Trailer. You know it's tough to watch when the narrator himself gets scared off.

There are even some parts in the Honest Trailer alone that are hard to watch - and, with David Fincher's slow, delicate cinematography, it's probably even harder to watch in theaters. To all those who were able to brave the movie's worst moments, bravo: you're stronger than most.

Also, with regards to the 'Lifetime movie' comment in the trailer: if Lifetime ever actually made movies like this, there'd be a whole lot more people watching them, that's for sure. Maybe the Gone Girl sequel could be a Lifetime Original?
