Honest Trailers takes on 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze'

The Screen Junkies have outdone themselves with their latest "Honest Trailer." This time, in honor of the new movie arriving in theaters this weekend, Screen Junkies casts its brutally honest spotlight on 1991's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze."

In keeping with the spirit of honesty, let's be serious for a moment. The original live-action movie from 1990 was surprisingly watchable. It had its moments of cheese, but for the most part, these were the Turtles as they were always meant to be: a dysfunctional band of brothers who kick bad guy butt. It hasn't held up that great over time, but at least this darker take on the Turtles wasn't afraid to depict real violence (sans blood, of course). Consequently, it was a huge success at the box office.

When a sequel was produced and released just one year later, fans were ready to gobble up a second helping. Sadly, it sucked. It was a crafted-by-committee kiddie flick that lightened things up, toned down the violence and infamously featured the Turtles dancing at a Vanilla Ice concert to a ridiculous theme song. It was everything that triumphant first film was not, and an insult to fans.

If you haven't seen the movie in a long time, you may have forgotten just how awful "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze" was. Thankfully, "Honest Trailers" has seen fit to show the world the flick's unending stupidity. This almost five-minute masterpiece runs down the (very long) list of things wrong with the sequel, pointing out the many plot points that made no sense, the watered-down action, the horrible acting and everything else that was oh-so-lame. It even manages to throw in a reference to that godawful concert tour they did.

Actually, it's a wonder Screen Junkies was able to cram all of it into a mere five minutes.
