'Kingdom Hearts' Honest Trailer Pokes Holes In The Game's Needlessly Complex Lore

There's a lot to love about Kingdom Hearts: the mashup of Disney and Final Fantasy characters was something that no one ever expected to see in a video game, and it works so well that the franchise has quickly become one of Square Enix's biggest hits. Each game is hugely anticipated, and even though it's been nearly a decade since the last proper entry in the series, Kingdom Hearts still maintains an enormous fanbase.

But while it's great, Kingdom Hearts isn't perfect. Some of the levels can feel a bit hackneyed, there are plenty of characters that no one cares about and the series features one of the most convoluted stories in the industry.

Want proof? Just take a look at the latest Honest Trailer, featuring the entire Kingdom Hearts saga:

As always, the folks over at Honest Trailers and Smosh Games have done their homework: even if the entire first half of the video sounded like absolute gibberish, it's all completely on-point. The character switches, alternate timelines and confounding reincarnations are all a huge part of the Kingdom Hearts lore, and if you think the trailer made things more confusing, then you haven't played the games.

On top of that, the games' story wasn't the only thing that the trailer nailed. Everything else about the franchise, including the suspiciously familiar voices, the padding of content, C-grade characters and the library of consoles required to play the games were all perfectly represented.

Then again, just because the Kingdom Hearts franchise has its flaws, that doesn't mean it's not made up of great games...they're just a very, very confusing games, that's all.
