The theme of this year's E3 news conference could be "leaks," as that seems to be something that's happened often the past few days.
First, we found out about Bethesda's Dishonored 2 when the company practiced its E3 presentation. News of the title spread well before the actual conference took place Sunday night.
Today, the latest leak concerns Gears of War, or rather a remastered collected edition of the game for the Xbox One, just hours before Microsoft's official E3 news conference.
This latest leak comes courtesy of a Russian website for the Gears of Wars games. Gamers caught a recent update of that website that leaked information about an upcoming remastered Gears of War edition for Microsoft's Xbox One. That information is no longer available on the website, but wasn't removed before Siliconera spotted it.
The website updates didn't just mention the Gears of War remastered version, though. It also gave details on what the new collected edition would include, including 90 minutes of gameplay previously only available on the PC version of the game. The website updates also mentioned new gameplay features, such as better enemy targeting.
According to the leaked information, the game features Dolby 7.1 Surround sound, new Xbox LIVE achievements, unlockable gallery sketches and comics and a stream-lined multiplayer mode with 60 frames per second, dedicated servers, selection of players for skills and several new types of multiplayer games. The leaked information also states that the remastered Gears of War has a better control system, adapted specifically for Xbox One, as well as improved sensitivity settings.
The Russian website also gave a release date: Aug. 25, 2015. We expect to learn more at Microsoft's press conference today at 9:30 a.m. PDT.
Of course, many gamers are tired of remastered editions of games for new consoles and hope that Microsoft's press conference also features other announcements about new games for the next-generation system. Also, although there are still a lot of Gears of Wars fans out there, those gamers might prefer a new installment in the franchise, which hasn't seen a new title in the series since 2013.
