What Will Disney World's 'Frozen Ever After' Be Like?

As previously announced, Disney World's international Epcot Center will feature a brand new land in its around the world tour - Arendelle. The magical kingdom that was home to Princess Anna and Queen Elsa from Frozen is in the works to replace the Maelstrom ride in the Norway area of the park.

According to reports, the Frozen-inspired ride will be a dark journey that will take passengers through tales and sceneries inspired by the hit animated musical movie.

Disney's COO, Tom Staggs, told the Wall Street Journal that the ride will not feel out of place and imagineers at Disney were actually already conceptualizing the new ride even before the movie came out in theatres.

"Our urgency grew as the film really took off... We purposefully set a really audacious goal to get this thing done. That's one of the reasons why it's a makeover of Maelstrom, rather than an entirely new attraction that would take longer to build," he said.

Designs of the new ride include a greeting from the singing, sun-loving snowman, Olaf, and Sven the reindeer. First stop, Troll Valley where the Grand Pabbie tells the love story of Anna and Kristof to a group of children.

The grand finale of the four minute ride will feature Elsa's pivotal musical act in the movie, Let it Go, as passengers enter her snow crystal castle and she dances on the balcony.

But even with the ride featuring heavily on scenes from Frozen, Staggs says that the original tour of Norse Mythology and culture is still celebrated.

"If the goal is to give people a taste of something like Scandinavia with the Norway pavilion, then 'Frozen' would only increase the extent to which people would be drawn to it," he said.

Disney is reportedly banking on the Frozen Ever After ride to re-ignite interest in Epcot Center which has not had a boost in visitors since 2013.

Frozen Ever After is scheduled to open to visitors in early 2016.
